Fighting for Our Families and Our Lives
You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the
directions at the bottom.
Paid Sick Days and Healthy Families Act
After 90 years women are still fighting for their rights, including: •The right to take care of a sick child or family member. •The right to take a personal sick day without retribution. •The right of victims of sexual assault to take a paid safe day.
August 26th, is a national day of action in support of the Healthy Families Act, a bill in Congress that would guarantee the right to paid sick days for every American worker.
In 2008 Milwaukee voters overwhelmingly approved a Paid Sick Days referendum which, according to Wisconsin law, should have functioned as "direct legislation," which means it was the express will of the voters, and by direct democracy shall be implemented. The business lobby has so far been able to block implementation of the law.
Paid Sick Days has taken off as a national movement and already a federal bill has been introduced.
Wisconsin is poised to extend its reputation as a forward thinking state by becoming the first to enact paid sick days legislation.

Healthy Families Act
Dear Governor,
I support the Healthy Families Act, H.R. 2460, S. 1152.
People agree that hardworking Americans deserve to earn paid time off to care for children and family members in need, and to care for personal health needs.
Allowing working people the ability to take paid sick and safe leave is not only good for workers health, it's good for public health, and for improving workplace productivity in general.
